Hello Pondicherry (now, puducherry)!
When I select any ‘Hotel’ – I choose comfort, Pampering service and delicious food.
Promenade hotel was my home for 4 days and the stay was great!
This hotel is located at the heart of the town’s ancient “French Quarter”. The property is painted in white, facing the very famous and peaceful, Promenade Beach. We saw the Sunrise, early morning which was easily visible from our room windows. The interiors are ultra modern. The rooms were spacious and well designed with the bed in the middle and the huge mirror in the centre with the LCD TV displaying ‘only’ regional languages. The one corner on the table was occupied with snacks and a mini bar with all the varieties of drink they can fill it up with – Vodka, Beer, Whiskey, tequila, rum! The variety was good and the price was even better.
The washroom was clean with the basic necessities available. But, it was only available on demand. One suggestion would be to keep that on the check before allotting the rooms. For the customers, I would say you check with hotel before accepting the room.
Please Note: This was not the case with all the rooms out of two. It was not done properly with one of the rooms we paid for.
They also have a shop inside the hotel where you can buy leather stuff. As Pondicherry is home to famous leather goods and hidesign is a flagship store there.
Service: Service is exceptionally good. Room service, Laundry, Food, if things go haywire, they are just one call away at your service. We also got the cab booked from the reception when we were looking for a cab on a sudden demand, it was there in ten minutes. We were in the hotel at 7 in the morning and they provided us with the basic stuff to keep our luggage with them and we started off with our breakfast buffet.
Nearby Places: French Colony, Promenade Beach, Auroville Ashram – they are all walking distance from the hotel. If you are looking for nearby restaurants to eat outside the hotel – Li cafe, Cafe Des Art, cafe rendezvous, Biker Cafe (All these are on a walkable distance from the hotel, towards the promenade sea).
Restaurants they offer:
- BlueLine: The 24-hour restaurant, overlooking the sea, serves Indian, Oriental & Continental cuisine as lavish buffets or a la carte. Our daily breakfast was fixed at BlueLine.
- Risque: Relaxed leather seating and contemporary music make this sea facing lounge bar offering a variety of drinks. They had a Sangria festival during our stay (July end).
- Bay of Buddha,Lighthouse: Open for dinner only.
As they say “Give time a break”. It seems appropriate, for a break in this seaside French town does make you come back.
If you are planning to visit the French Colony, Book Now.
until next time, XoXo
