Bunta bar, a new gem in the bustling heart of central Delhi, Connaught place, Janpath lane close to shiv sagar. There is always a new addition coming up in the area but Bunta bar, for me stands out to be the clear winner. This places lives up to its name, the bunta bottles are spread around in such a way, which adds up the decor, the bar, the entrance which lights up the dose of nostalgia.
Ambiance: A thousands, and a more number of bottles have been used to give this place a quirky setup on one end. The bar is fixed right in the center with the bunta effect speaking volumes. The wall on the other side is kept raw, which gives this place an indianized bar theme, the BUNTA BAR written on the wall displaces the theme of Indian setup, the peacock artwork shows the theme pretty well, it is a combination of thread work and paint. The chandeliers are made out of bunta bottles and milk chruns. The music playing in the background was again giving it quite Indian soothing note to the ears.
~Babji ki booti: A drink served in a kettle. Wow! I fell in love with the kettle the moment served got me this delicious drink. The drink is made up of gin and tonic water, poured in these colorful cups which contained elderflower. The drink was so light and refreshing. Must try.
~Bunta cocktails: they have a variety of options, as it is apt with the name of the bar. I opted for aam panna, kala khatta. These cocktails are served in bunta bottles. If you here at bunta bar, you certainly cannot miss this.
Desi cocktail: Like all other drinks were light amd soothing, this was on the stronger side, with 80 percent alcohol present the drink was a flavor in itself, giving a dash of amla, elderflower , pomegranate, orange combined with bourbon whiskey.
~Beetroot and cream cheese bread rolls: If you love beetroot, this is one must order dish for you and if you dont, I would recommend you to try this dish. Beetroot can not be so perfect at all levels, it went well here in the bread, they center part of the bread bites were filled with Beetroot.
~Kerela chicken nuggets: the nuggets were soft and juicy, crunchy juicy and succulent.
~Spinach Paneer Flatbreads: a pizza, naan, what?! A flatbreads, yes. Call it anything , they serve the best flatbread, I can assure you this. The base of the bread was filled with palak and tipped with paneer cubes, with loads of cheese. Must try for veggies.
~Dal makhni: If I have to think of places serving best dal Makhni, then I will add this place in the list. The dalakhni was cooked so good, the thickness in the gravy, the taste fill of cream and dal is clearly a winner for main course.
I end my tour on a sinful, sweet heady note and so, I opted for two desserts.
~Khajoor brownie with ice creams and kismi caramel: The soft spongy Brownie topped with vanilla ice cream is a treat for ice cream lovers. The flavours of kismi caramel will again draw a dash of nostalgia.
~Parsi Dairy Kulfi: a creamy household product from Mumbai is a must Try when you dine at Bunta bar, it melts in the mouth and keeps you craving for more. I repeated my order thrice and still craved for more.
An expectation, met and surpassed.
I am coming here agian. Cheers!
